The Parks and Recreation Department operates and maintains numerous Community Parks, Recreational Open Spaces, and Natural Preserve, which allow for ample recreational opportunities. A favorite spot in Westlake is Glynwyck Park (1601 Fair Oaks Drive). This park covers 13.5 acres and is filled with tall oak and pecan trees, a running brook, and more to explore. With 10 miles of Trails, residents in Westlake can explore the community while biking, jogging, and walking. Golf lovers can become members of the private Vaquero Club (300 Vaquero Club Drive), with its stunning, Tom Fazio designed course.


Education in Westlake

Depending on which neighborhood residents live in, Westlake students attend one of two school districts. Those in the western neighborhoods reside within the Keller Independent School District. This district includes Florence Elementary (3095 Johnson Road, Southlake), Bear Creek Intermediate (801 Bear Creek Parkway, Keller), Keller Middle School (300 College Avenue, Keller), and Keller High School (601 North Pate Orr Road, Keller). The eastern neighborhoods of Westlake are located within Carroll Independent School District. Students in kindergarten through 12th grade attend Walnut Grove Elementary (2520 North White Chapel Boulevard, Southlake), Durham Intermediate (801 Shady Oaks Drive, Southlake), Carroll Middle School (1800 East Kirkwood Boulevard, Southlake), Carroll Senior High (1501 West Southlake Boulevard, Southlake). Westlake parents can also enroll their children in Westlake Academy (2600 JT Ottinger, Westlake). This top ranked public charter school is an International Baccalaureate World School for students in kindergarten through 12th grade.

Health and Transportation in Westlake

Westlake residents have access to some of the best medical facilities in the state. There are two comprehensive hospitals located close to the community. Both Baylor Medical Center at Trophy Club (2850 East State Highway 114, Trophy Club) and Methodist Southlake Hospital (421 East Texas 114 Frontage Road, Southlake) offer full inpatient and outpatient services, as well as 24 hour emergency care.


Westlake is conveniently located along US Route 377 and Texas State Highway 114. These highways connect the community to the major thoroughfares in the area, allowing easy commuting possibility for residents.  runs in between Trophy Club and Westlake. This route provides residents with direct commuting links to the other major highways in the Dallas-Fort Worth Area. Located only 15 miles away, Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (International Parkway) offers daily domestic and international flights.
