Parks and Recreation in Southlake


Those who enjoy time in the Texas sunshine will find a great home in Southlake. The Southlake Parks and Recreation Department maintains numerous facilities around town, including 3 Town Square Parks and 12 Neighborhood Parks. There are 3 community parks in Southlake, all of which over a variety of amenities to residents. Bicentennial Park  (450 West Southlake Boulevard) is one of the city’s largest parks. It features baseball fields, the Liberty Gardens, a fishing pond, brand new playground, and inline hockey court. It is also the home of the Southlake Tennis Center, a public tennis facility with 19 lighted hard courts. The 500 acre large Bob Jones Park (3901 North White Chapel Boulevard) is a great spot for residents to enjoy. With 13 soccer fields, a girls’ softball complex, 6 acre pond, and equestrian area, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Even your furry friend will have fun at the 2.5 acre Boo Boo’s Buddies Dog Park. This park is also the site of the Bob Jones Nature Center and Preserve, which allows Southlake residents to learn about and admire the area’s natural habitat. North Park (200 East Dove Road) is Southlake’s newest community park and offers trails, multi-use athletic fields, a playground, and more.



Education in Southlake, TX

The city of Southlake strives itself on providing excellent K-12 educational institutions for its residents. Academic excellence for the youth of the city is a major priority. The community is served by several area school districts, with schools located throughout Southlake and neighboring cities. These districts include Carroll Independent School District (11 schools), Grapevine Colleyville Independent School District (19 schools), Keller Independent School District (39 schools), and Northwest Independent School District (20 schools). There are also several private educational institutions, both non denominational and religious-affiliated, located in town. The Clariden School (100 Clariden Ranch Road) educates students in preschool through high school, with a focus on project-based learning.   



Health and Transportation in Southlake, Texas

Southlake residents have access to many excellent medical facilities located right within the city. There are several urgent care facilities and family medicine clinics in Southlake. Cook Children's  Southlake Urgent Care and Pediatric Specialties (2727 East Southlake Boulevard) is one facility that provides medical services for pediatric health as well as non-emergency immediate care. There are two major hospitals in Southlake. Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Southlake (1545 East Southlake Boulevard) and Methodist Southlake Hospital (421 East State Highway 114) provide comprehensive medical care and emergency services for patients.

The transportation network in Southlake provides easy commuting options for residents. Texas State Highway 114 runs directly through the city and provides links to the other major highways in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Located only 12 miles away, Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport allows for convenient travelling beyond the immediate area, whether for business or pleasure.
