The Dallas-Fort Worth area is an area is one of the most attractive areas in the state, especially when considering the employment opportunities and city amenities that can be found there. This can be seen in the drastic population growth that has occurred in Flower Mound from 2000, when the city population was recorded as being 50,702, to 2010, when the population jumped to 64,699 an increase of 28 percent. Flower Mound, which can be found northwest of Dallas and northeast of Fort Worth, was first inhabited in the 1850's, although it was not incorporated until 1961. Back in 1970, the town only had a population of 1,685. The construction of the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport four miles south of town in 1974 resulted in a huge population boom and continues to be one of the reasons that Flower Mound real estate is in such demand.

Looking for a quick bite to eat in a more informal restaurant? Then grab a slice of pizza at Jet's Pizza or take the family for Mexican food at Anamia's. Residents will also find plenty of places to get their shopping done nearby Flower Mound real estate. There are a number of large national department stores within a short driving distance, such as Home Depot, Super Target and Kohl's. There are also plenty of local stores, such as the Quail Hollow Track sporting good store and Celebrations & Invitations. Parks and Recreation

As far as parks and recreation goes, residents won't be disappointed. There are 54 public parks that cover over 945 acres of parkland located nearby Flower Mound real estate. These parks contain around 43 miles worth of trails that link together parks, schools, neighborhoods and businesses not to mention 2 miles of equestrian trails. Residents can also visit the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Park, which is located north of Grapevine Lake, where they can enjoy 14 miles of unpaved hiking and biking trails and 9 miles of equestrian trails. Twin Coves Park is also a popular spot for locals due to the fact that it offers overnight camping, whether residents are looking to camp out in their tents or in their RVs. There are plenty of recreational opportunities available as well. Besides going hiking or biking through the abundant park trails, residents can take all kinds of classes and participate in all sorts of programs. The Community Activity Center is a great place to work out, boasting 12 treadmills, 10 ellipticals, an indoor running track, 7 bikes, 2 stair climbers and a number of other fitness machines and equipment.


The close proximity of the DFW Airport has led to the relocation of a number of businesses to Flower Mound. Some of the major companies to have moved local operations to the area include Stryker Communications and Best Buy. The two largest employers in Flower Mound are the Lewisville Independent School District and the Town of Flower Mound. Flower Mound has experienced steady job growth, especially between 2000 and 2009, a time period in which the town experienced a 26.53 percent job growth. As of 2012, Flower Mound had a respectable 3.5 percent unemployment rate that compared favorably to the 5 percent state unemployment rate and the 6 percent national unemployment rate.

Schools, Health, and Transportation

Most of the Flower Mound area is served by the Lewisville Independent School District, although parts of the city are served by the Northwest Independent School District and the Argyle Independent School District. There are 18 public schools in Flower Mound as well as 3 private schools.

Residents have two major hospitals within a short driving distance of Flower Mound real estate: the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital and the First Choice Emergency Room. Both medical centers offer emergency care services.

In addition to being located within 4 miles of the DFW Airport, Flower Mound also has access to a number of major roads, including U.S. Route 377 and Interstate 35W.
